The effect of Vitamin D levels on the course of COVID-19 in hospitalized patients – a 1-year prospective cohort study

Background: The aim of the current study was to assess patients with COVID-19 and impact vitamin D supplementation on course COVID-19. Methods: This prospective cohort included hospitalized due between December 2020 2021. Patients' demographic, clinical, laboratory parameters were analysed. Results: 301 participants enrolled in study. 46 (15,3%) had moderate, 162 (53,8%) severe 14 (4,7%) died, 30 (10,0%) admitted ICU disease worsening. majority needed oxygen therapy (n=224; 74,4%). Average 25(OH)D3 levels below optimal at admittance, deficiency detected 205 individuals. More male suffering from deficiency. Patients more showed lower their blood. most group symptoms that lasted significantly longer progressing severity. also suffered deaths, admissions, treatments dexamethasone, remdesivir, oxygen. Conclusion: shown have increased inflammatory parameters, mortality, higher incidence results suggest might represent a significant risk factor for COVID-19.
